CARTA ABIERTA PARA EL PRESIDENTE BARACK OBAMA
DE PARTE DE LOS CIUDADANOS DEL MUNDO

Estimado Presidente Barack Obama,

En 2008 cuando llegó a ser el 44o Presidente y el primer Presidente Africano Americano de los Estados Unidos, las expectativas eran extremadamente altas en términos de cambios dramáticos que usted pudiera provocar no solamente en los Estados Unidos sino también en el mundo entero. Los valores que usted encarnó y de los cuales habló representaban en los ojos del mundo entero un universo de esperanza hacia una nueva era de grandes transformaciones y de iniciativas audaces para la paz en el mundo.

Aun cuando tenía menos de un año en el cargo, el Comité Noruego del Nobel se puso de acuerdo con el resto del mundo para otorgarle el Premio Nobel de la Paz 2009, claro no porque usted trabajó para la paz en mundo, sino que los ciudadanos del mundo habían previsto que usted iba a hacer lo.

La citación prestigiosa del Nobel incluye lo siguiente:

  • “El Comité dio una gran importancia a la visión de Obama de trabajar para un mundo sin armas nucleares”.
  • “Gracias a la iniciativa de Obama, los EE. UU. están desempeñando ahora un papel más constructivo en el cumplimiento de los grandes desafíos climáticos a los cuales se enfrenta el mundo”.
  • “Obama en cuanto que Presidente ha creado un nuevo marco en las políticas internacionales. La diplomacia multilateral recuperó una posición central, con el énfasis en papel de las Naciones Unidas y otras instituciones internacionales pueden desempeñar”.

Además, nosotros, ciudadanos del mundo, sugerimos fuertemente que, con la ayuda de la UNICEF, usted pueda perseguir el respeto de los derechos fundamentales de todos los niños independientemente de donde vienen en el planeta: acceso a los servicios de salud, acceso a la comida y acceso a la educación.

Un mundo sin armas nucleares, respuesta a los cambios climáticos, avances en la paz internacional y el respeto de los derechos fundamentales de los niños en el mundo entero, serán como lo esperamos, los piezas centrales de su política exterior para los cuatro próximos años.

Estimado Presidente Obama,

“Ahora es el momento de que todos nosotros tomemos nuestra parte de responsabilidad para una respuesta global a los desafíos globales." Estas son sus palabras. Nosotros, ciudadanos del
mundo, le instamos para que ayude el mundo al embarcar en la odisea por la paz y la prosperidad.

En el umbral de ese Nuevo Año 2013, por favor reciban nuestros mejores deseos fraternales de buena salud y de éxito constante para usted y su familia.
