Opportunity called “difficulty”

By Hiroshi Tasaka

A major league baseball player, Ichiro, was having a hard time with a pitcher who had managed to throw him no hits for many games.

Ichiro’s comment at an interview was unforgettable.

“You don’t like that pitcher, do you?”

To this question, Ichiro said,

“You know, I believe he is an excellent pitcher who will bring out my potential.”

Then he added,

“So, I, also want to be an excellent batter who can bring out his potential.”

In this comment, we feel his steady preparedness.

Difficulty in life provides an excellent opportunity.

In fact, our difficulties are the best opportunities to grow.

This calm ‘preparedness’ can be inspiring.

Then,

when we embrace that ‘preparedness’ in our mind, the scenery of our life will change.

We realize this truth from Ichiro’s words.
