Petition to U.S. President Barack Obama

  • Would you like to see international peace?
  • Would you like to see a nuclear free world?
  • Would you like to see climate change addressed?
  • Would you like to see that the fundamental rights of children worldwide are respected?

Please sign the petition below if you agree with and support this initiative. The following petition will be delivered to President Barack Obama.

OPEN LETTER TO PRESIDENT BARACK OBAMA
FROM THE CITIZENS OF THE WORLD

Dear President Barack Obama,

When you became the 44th President of the United States, people’s expectations were extremely high in terms of possible changes that your presidency would bring about not only in the USA but worldwide. The values you embodied and spoke about so often symbolized in the eyes of the world the hope of a new era of great transformation and bold initiatives for peace worldwide.

On October 2009, the Norwegian Nobel Committee concurred with those expectations and awarded you the Nobel Peace Prize, evidently not for what you had the time to accomplish for world peace in less than one year in office, but for the actions that citizens of the world anticipated you would stimulate during the course of your presidency.

The prestigious Nobel citation included the following:

  • “The Committee has attached special importance to Obama's vision of and work for a world without nuclear weapons”.
  • “Thanks to Obama's initiative, the USA is now playing a more constructive role in meeting the great climatic challenges the world is confronting”.
  • “Obama has as President created a new climate in international politics. Multilateral diplomacy has regained a central position, with emphasis on the role that the United Nations and other international institutions can play”.

We, the citizens of the world, recommend that you work with the United Nations and other international Organizations to:

  1. Make sure fundamental rights of all children on this planet regardless of race or creed are respected e.g. access to health services, food and education.
  2. Work on and promote programs for a nuclear free world, addressing climate change and international peace.

We hope the above items remain among the centerpieces of your foreign policy for the next four years.

Mr. President, “Now is the time for all of us to take our share of responsibility for a global response to global challenges." We, the citizens of the world, urge you to help the world embark on an odyssey for peace and prosperity.

Respectfully,

Marcel Duret, Petition Creator
and Co-signers
